Regenerating former industrial buildings with new affordable homes

This scheme will see new homes come to life on the site of former industrial buildings in St Helens.

The 0.33-hectare site forms part of the wider Fishwicks Industrial Estate, but this area is now vacant following the demolition of the dilapidated buildings that previously stood on the site.

The land is not currently in economic use and following a process of community consultation, it became evident there was support from residents for the derelict brownfield site to be regenerated into new homes.

When asked why they were in support of the proposals several reasons were given, which primarily related to experiences of anti-social behaviour and fly tipping at the site and the fact. The residents also thought that the proposed scheme would help to improve the overall appearance of the area and thought that it was an obvious site to deliver new homes on.

Approved in September, it will help to deliver 28 new affordable homes for Jigsaw Homes Group to help meet local need.
