Addressing a shortage of affordable homes in a Lancashire village

Stanley was pleased to deliver this scheme of 32 houses and bungalows in the rural village of Overton, near Morecambe in Lancashire.

After many decades of undersupply of new housing in the village, there was huge demand from local community.

The scheme delivered new family homes and bungalows to local people who would have otherwise been forced to move from the area, away from family and local connections.

Built on former agricultural land within the settlement boundary, the scheme is an excellent example of how to secure sustainable communities in rural areas.

Our team addressed several technical challenges in bringing the scheme forward, including a solution for surface water drainage across third party land into a remote natural water course.

Because of the site’s proximity to Morecambe Bay there were also additional ecological considerations and mitigation requirements.
